Legend Comics

About Us

We're Rosie & Afsaneh.

A writer and illustrator duo making comics from opposite sides of the world. Rosie writes from the US, Afsaneh illustrates from Turkey, and somehow, across time zones, languages, and a truly absurd number of voice messages, we make it work.

Rosie K Shannon

Writer

Rosie was born in San Jose, California. She moved around a lot as a kid, living on both coasts before eventually settling in Florida with relatives who adopted her at the age of fifteen. By eighteen, she had earned a full scholarship to the University of Central Florida, graduating with a degree in History.

After college she joined Americorps and moved back to California. Her twenties were a turbulent time and she jokes that she did “van life” before it was a thing. During this period, Rosie experienced a real-life miracle when an old mentor helped her get back on her feet. Jason Oliver, an eccentric older gay man adorned in Hawaiian shirts helped Rosie during her van-life period and taught her meditation and forgiveness. He died suddenly in 2010 from a brain aneurysm. Rosie owes much of her success to Jason, and dedicates much of her work to him.

After Jason’s death and a few years of wandering, Rosie landed in Denver in 2017, quite by accident. The Mile High City offered stability, inspiration and time to focus on her writing. Rosie has since written plays, screenplays, and several comics, with two plays produced in New York City.

Outside of writing, Rosie performs stand-up comedy, takes acting classes, and seeks out hot springs or tubs of every kind, “even the gross one at the gym with the floating bandaids.” She plays drums for fun, collects classic films, and dreams of building a sanctuary for animals and people. As she puts it: “a safe haven for stray dogs/cats/humans, and maybe even some raccoons.”

Afsaneh Tajrishi

Illustrator & Visual Development

Afsaneh was born and raised in Tehran, Iran, and moved to Turkey in 2020. From a young age she had a deep love for comics, growing up with titles like Tintin and others that sparked her imagination and inspired her artistic path.

She studied Industrial Design at the Tehran University of Art, where she built an impressive portfolio and gained recognition for her creativity.

In 2020, Afsaneh and her twin brother decided to move to Turkey to expand their opportunities and connect with clients from around the world. She describes it as one of the best decisions of her life, opening the door to new collaborations and creative freedom.

Since then, the siblings have continued to rebuild their lives and careers, freelancing on a variety of comic books and design projects. This is how Afsaneh eventually crossed paths with Rosie, sparking a new chapter in her life.

Together, we make comics about robots, moths, butterflies, and the beautifully weird corners of life. We’re just getting started, and we’re glad you’re here.
